Description
"Bolivia is a nation of rich cultural heritage. The blending of Spaniard Catholicism and Indigenous Inca traditions has produced an array of colorful festivals throughout the country. One of the greatest cultural experiences to witness would have to be the Carnaval de Oruro. A three-day celebration, beginning just forty days before Easter. The festival combines Andean and Catholic beliefs. And as it is believed that the Virgin Mary appeared in a silver mine shaft in 1789, a 20-hour procession is performed, in devotion to the Virgin."
