Description
"My family is from Michoacán, Mexico. It’s consider to be the heart of Mexico and well known for its delicious carnitas. The small town my family is from is tucked away in the lush green mountains and connected by river streams. Growing up, I was always made sure to know that family is everything. My abuelita was a big part of that, she had 7 children and would bake and sell cakes to provide for them. In her pastime, she would embroider cloth napkins that were used to keep tortillas warm. In the portrait, I am holding one of them along with a traditional Mexican Flan that I made. My abuelita was the strongest, kindest and most resilient women and I strive to be like her everyday."
