Description
"If Uruguay should be famous for one thing, it should be for the artwork that has been dedicated to the community of Afro-Uruguayans. Which traces back to the presence of slave descendants who were brought to Uruguay during colonial times. For years, this community of color was unfairly targeted. It went so far, that they were even banned from drumming, since it was under the accusation of being witchcraft. On account of this, candombe almost turned into a lost art. But instead, it prevailed and celebrated by so many Uruguayan artists."
